The Opportunity

This role will be responsible for ensuring QBE North America's Corporate Compliance program is effective at preventing and detecting misconduct and violations of law, does so in a cost-effective manner and operates in alignment with the company's strategies and priorities.

Primary Responsibilities

*Drive organizational compliance with new laws and regulations by developing processes for analyzing, communicating and implementing changes in the law to ensure policies and procedures align with state and federal requirements

*Report to the Audit Committee on a regular basis regarding program development initiatives, compliance incidents and other related matters

*Guide the implementation of corporate compliance best practices by establishing and maintaining policies and procedures that are tailored to the organization, meet regulatory requirements and address business needs

*Define and implement the Compliance Obligations Management framework for NA across all Compliance Risk Universe topics; develop associated controls, processes, system enablement and accountabilities for the enterprise

*Develop the Compliance Monitoring program to identify high-risk areas and conduct deep-dives - both scheduled and ad-hoc in accordance with the Risk Management Framework

*Promote regulatory best practices across the organization by establishing and maintaining an effective training and communication program for employees, senior leaders and relevant third parties to ensure alignment with new laws and regulations

*Oversee the Mandatory Compliance Training Program, including assignment, tracking and exception handling in support of the Group Required Learning Framework

*Facilitate organization-wide corporate compliance by conducting risk assessments across all business units and developing controls to address areas in need of risk mitigation

*Monitor the effectiveness of the compliance program by testing current compliance control processes, auditing program activities and managing incidents to ensure continuous adherence to laws and regulations

*Foster a streamlined approach to corporate compliance by implementing system solutions to automate and/or strengthen compliance controls and drive efficiency and effectiveness of department initiatives

*Drive an approach that focuses on collaboration by networking with the business as well as openly communicating and engaging with key stakeholders such as risk, internal audit, procurement, HR and legal

*Oversee QBE NA's Sanctions program, inclusive of environment scanning, training and screening for sanctioned entities; provide support to Group and AusPac relative to screening capabilities

*Oversee QBE NA's Complaint Handling function to ensure consumer complaints are handled in a timely and professional manner

*Implement and oversee the company's whistleblowing hotline and ensure that any related investigations are carried out appropriately; manage sensitive Executive/Board-level conflicts and other significant matters of Regulatory and Compliance breaches to ensure escalations and disclosures are appropriately made

*Provide local and global best practice guidance and counsel in collaboration with the Group Risk and Compliance function in relation to Compliance Management initiatives, strategies and operating models.

*Manage budgeted resources by anticipating expenditures, accurately forecasting resource needs/costs and properly accounting for expenses to meet requirements and achieve fiscal responsibility

Required Qualifications

Education:

Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience

Experience:

10+ years relevant experience

Experience

*Insurance industry experience

*Corporate compliance experience

*Systems background

*Legal background

*Experience managing or leading others

*Increasing levels of responsibility

*Subject matter expertise in corporate compliance risk areas, including but not limited to: ethics, codes of conduct, fraud, conflicts of interest, antitrust, sanctions, anti-corruption, privacy, records management, whistleblowing, incident handling, control implementation, compliance training, developing policies and procedures, designing and implementing controls, performing monitoring activities, third party compliance and compliance reporting

Licenses/Certifications

*Certified Compliance and Ethics Professional (CCEP)

Preferred Knowledge

*In-depth knowledge of the insurance industry, particularly property and casualty lines of business

*Advanced working knowledge of relevant state and federal laws and regulations

Compensation

Base pay offered will vary depending on, but not limited to education, experience, skills, geographic location and business needs

Annual Salary Range: $217,000 - $325,000
